Bachelor of Design – Lancaster University

I attended Lancaster University as a Junior Year Abroad (JYA) student in 1973 as an undergrad in English studies exchanged from the University of Pennsylvania USA. What a wonderful and gorgeous campus and surroundings. The university was very friendly and helpful. To date, I always mention to friends and family, that the Education in the UK is far better and more beneficial than the counterpart in the USA.

To any potential student: Lancaster has developed into a premier university over the 47 past years. It was new in those days but half a century later, it is one of the top educational institutions in the world. If I had the resources, I would have sent my daughter to Lancaster. My impression of Lancaster University even within a short academic year remains as happy and as impressive as in 1973 when I was only 20 years old.

On the personal and social side, as an American exchange student, I was lucky towards the end of my JYA program to meet another foreign student who was working on his PHD in Science . He drove me to the Lake District and surrounding areas took me to many pubs and helped me maintain wonderful memories of historic Lancashire which remains as the pinnacle of my academic year. I kick myself for not staying in contact with him; fate has its way, I was leaving to go home to the USA and he had two more years to go so we lost contact until I read some of these reviews ; I think I found him in a review he submitted recently. He was a genius about everything but specifically cars and anything mechanical. Hello GG. I hope you remember me.

I studied two degrees at Lancaster University. The standard of studying was excellent. The collegiate system blew my mind. The societies are endless. The events and fun is none stop. The accommodation was great. Places for your party people and places for your quiet folks. The facilities are great. They have a super modern gym. The variety of people I met was life changing. From Vietnamese to American to Nigerian. It was a blessing. Lancaster University changed me as a person. For the better.
